Internet Terminology


URL

URL stands for universal resource locater; it is the address of a World Wide Web page. For example the URL for Yahoo is http://en-maktoob.yahoo.com/?p=us

Export

Export is when you format data in such way that it can be used by another application. An app that can export data can create a file in a format that another application understands. So it lets the two programs share the same data.

Import

Import is when you transfer something from the internet to a application or application to application.

WWW

WWW stands for World Wide Web; it is a computer network, which contains lots of websites for example http://www.audioenglish.net/dictionary/world_wide_web.htm is a Web

Domain name

Domain names are use to recognize one or more IP addresses for example
The domain names of Microsoft are more than 12, So basically domain names are used to identify web pages in URls, for example this is our domain name https://grade7-myptechnology.wikispaces.com/file/view/Week+8+Class+work+%26+Home+work..pdf

Search engine

A search engine is something that you search web page or other stuff for example Google chrome is a search engine.

This is hypertext transfer this is used on all web pages for example

Internet browser

An Internet browser is a software application, which has information and resources for example Wikipedia is Internet browser.
